Mr. Sobesky’s Subjects:
MATH: We are finishing off the year working on Area & Perimeter, and Symmetry. Students have enjoyed working with "Geoboards", to determine Area & Perimeter of squares, rectangles, and figures.
Over the summer students should practice two digit by up to five digit multiplication at home. That would be a good skill to be on top of for Fifth grade.
SCIENCE: In the final part of our Energy unit we continue to work with Electrical Circuits, and have created some with batteries, wires, bulbs & motors.
Students now know the difference between a Parallel, and Series Circuit.
Don't forget that we have a Bike/Walk/Hike on June 7. Make sure bikes are in good working condition. We will not repair bikes brought to school in need of repair. We are also not using this trip to teach students how to ride a bike. Those who don't have a bike, or can't ride one will be part of the "Walking/Hike" group.
This is our last newsletter of the year, and of our career!

On Tuesday, June 7th , the fourth graders will be taking a bike trip around our community of Kentwood. The students will have learned about bike safety in the classroom. The entire trip will be around 7-10 miles.
We will be leaving school around 9:30A.M., and we hope to return by 2:00 P.M. During this trip we will stop at Pinewood Park to have a class picnic.
The students will be required to wear a bike helmet. Bikes can be brought to school the morning of the trip or before 6 P.M. Monday, June 6th.
We are also having a walking group. Students will need good walking shoes for that day. Students can also bring their own water bottles.
We are looking for interested parents who would be willing to ride or walk with us. Please contact us if you can come.
A pizza lunch will be served in the park. We will purchase pizzas, chips, cookies, and water. The money used for this luncheon is from our candy bar sales this year. We will need parents to organize the luncheon for us that day. If students do not like the lunch choice, they may bring their own sack lunches.
Students may bring extra clothes, towel and plastic bag for the splash pad at Pinewood Park. They are responsible for carrying their clothes in a backpack. They will have to have the backpack all day on the bike/walk hike.
This should be a fantastic day!! If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to call us at 698-2524.
